The Keiskamma Trust is a community organization, centred in Hamburg, a rural area of the Eastern Cape, South Africa, which works to foster hope and offer support for the most vulnerable. We strive to address the challenges of widespread poverty and disease through holistic and creative programmes and partnerships.Good News!
The Keiskamma Trust has just been provisionally accepted as a Woolworths/MyVillage partner.
For those of you in South Africa, this means each time you shop at Woolworths (and other shops), you will have a chance to swipe your MyVillage card to support the programmes of the Keiskamma Trust. More info on how this works below.
Before we can issue MyVillage cards to our supporters we need to manually sign up 1000 supporters. This is where we need YOUR help.

At this preliminary stage we are not registered on the MyVillage site so our supporters cannot apply on-line. Until we have 1000 supporters we have to use snail mail! Please do not fax your form to the number listed on the form. We have to gather all 1000 hard copies and deliver them to the MyVillage at one time, with the signed contract. Keiskamma Trust Wins Chairman's Premier Award
We are pleased to announce that the Keiskamma Trust is the proud recipient of the Prestigious Chairman’s Premier Award.
The winners of South Africa’s most prestigious business/arts awards were announced at an event held at Turbine Hall last night Monday 29 August - the 14th Annual Business Day BASA Awards. An independent panel of judges made awards in 12 categories while three special honours - the Art Champion Award, the Chairman’s Premier Award and Diplomacy in the Arts – were also given out on the night. The Chairman’s Premier Award went to The Keiskamma Trust, a community organisation in Hamburg in the Eastern Cape, which addresses poverty through creative programmes and partnerships and works to uplift local communities through skills development.

The Keiskamma Health Program
Providing the only AIDS/HIV treatment in this area of South Africa it currently has nearly 200 people on Anti-retroviral drugs. Our Aids Treatment centre in Hamburg provides full time in-patient care for those that need it. In addition over 40 adherence monitors are employed by the Trust to ensure that out-patients are able to stick to their medication. This is notoriously the difficult part of the healing process and these monitors make the difference between success and failure.Learn More
The Keiskamma Art Project
This community initiative provides many people from Hamburg and neighbouring villages with the skills, materials and training to create beautiful artworks. In so doing, people grow respect for themselves and generate vital incomes in an area of limited employment opportunities. The Keiskamma Art Project’s most famous artworks to date are the Keiskamma Altarpiece and the Keiskamma Tapestry. Both large artworks carry the message of hope in the fight against HIV/AIDS to audiences around the world.Learn More
Keiskamma Education and OVC
The primary focus of the Keiskamma education programme is providing support for vulnerable children, adolescents aorphans – which in the South Peddie area, means the majority of children.Learn More
