Dear Friends and Supporters of the Keiskamma Trust, I am please to report that in the past few months we have received funding from several sources that have put us on more stable ground for at least the next six months. Many thanks must go to the on-going support of dedicated donors such as 25:40 out of the United States, John Brown and the Keiskamma Friends out of the UK, Bjorn and Eva Rønneberg and friends from Norway, and The Keiskamma Canada Foundation who fast-tracked funds or pushed for extra donations on our behalf. In addition to these groups, PWRDF from Canada sent emergency funding as well as our grant for the year ahead, and we renewed our contract with the Hospice and Palliative Care association of South Africa, and with the European Union and with the Paediatric Aids Treatment for Africa project. WE are happy to report that new funding was received from the Ikhala Trust , the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust, and from HIVOS. We are in the process of re-applying for funds from the Starfish Foundation and several proposals have gone out to various organizations who are reviewing them now. The Keiskamma Trust would also like to thank the many private individuals around the world who worked so hard in the past months to sell our arts and crafts to generate income and who have made donations to or pledges of support for the ongoing work of the project. We will continue to work hard to find sustainable long-term funding for our work but for the next six months we are certain we will be able to continue, albeit on a reduced budget, our important work in the communities of Hamburg, Bodium, Ntilini and Lover’s Twist. I hope you will enjoy reading our newsletter for updated information about our various programmes. If you have any questions about the Trust please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you again for your generosity and support, Annette Woudstra |
