In 2007 Murray & Roberts was building a new head office in Bedfordview, Johannesburg they approached the Keiskamma Art Project to head up the establishment of a new art collection to be permanently housed in this impressive building.

The Creation Altarpiece
This piece is inspired by “The Lam Got” Altarpiece by Jan Van Eyck. The Creation Altarpiece is modeled in structure and theme on this great work. However, every Creation panel and every depiction has been interpreted in a meaningful way, relevant to the Hamburg community and their experiences.

The Keiskamma Altarpiece
The Keiskamma Altarpiece uses the form and themes of The Issenheim Altarpiece to depict hope and redemption in the face of the HIV epidemic. It celebrates the strength of grandmothers who bear the responsibility for the children in these times. It stands 4.15 x 6.8 meters. (13.6 x 22.3 feet).

The Keiskamma Tapestry
The Keiskamma Tapestry, an exquisite embroidery done in the tradition of the world renowned Bayeux Tapestry, tells the intricate history of the Eastern Cape Frontier. Created by over 100 women from Hamburg and neighboring villages it represents a group interaction of understanding and relationship development in the region.
