The Creation Altarpiece in Cape Town
The Creation Altarpiece

The opening of the event will take place in St George’s Cathedral at 6pm on Sunday 31 August and the exhibition will run until Sunday 4 October. All are welcome to come and view the Keiskamma Art Project's latest collection of wall hangings and products as well as the group’s latest masterpiece, The Creation Altarpiece. This magnificent tapestry depicts the story of the Creation and stands 4.40 metres high and 5.20 metres wide (when open), and includes a combination of hand-dyed wool, felt-making, embroidery, beading, photography and wirework.

A Season of Creation is intended to last for several weeks during September and October 2008 during which the Anglican Church of Southern Africa is invited to rise to the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation. In Partnership with Southern African Faith Communities Environment Institute (Safcei) and The Season of Creation, Capetonians will be able to view the latest work of the Keiskamma Art Project.
